AutoCAD was originally released in December 1982 by Autodesk, Inc. as a standalone Windows-only, DOS-based desktop app that could be purchased as an OEM license. The release of AutoCAD for the Windows OS marked a major milestone in CAD software development, as it was the first widely available computer-aided design software for the desktop, rather than on a mainframe or minicomputer.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce wants federal legislation that would block states from setting up their own policies aimed at curbing carbon dioxide emissions, an effort the chamber says would make it harder for states to respond to a likely rise in global temperatures due to climate change.

The proposed legislation, which was described by the chamber as a way to address “hotly contested climate policy,” would subject to federal pre-emption any state or local actions that limit emissions of greenhouse gases.
